Buffalo Society Of Artists 125th Catalogue Exhibition

Char Szabo-Perricelli's "Wistful Might Have Been" was accepted into the Buffalo Society of Artists 125th Catalogue Exhibition to be held at the Castellani Art Museum at Niagara University, Niagara Falls NY.

June 26 & 27 - Official opening weekend for in person visiting times must be reserved.
Reservations can be made directly at castellaniartmuseum.org once they list the exhibit.

The exhibit will run through early December.

"J. N. Adam Memorial Hospital: Her Inside Voice" is the result of a multi-year photo-documentation project containing the sensitive images and writing of Char Szabo-Perricelli along with personal accounts and historical support from the Museum of disABILITY History. From what was once a majestic, state-of-the-arts medical facility in the early 1900's to the ruins it is becoming today, this provocative book will take you back to the grand beginning and leave you with a sense of loss for what is quickly becoming another casualty amongst many of our historical treasures which have become victims of neglect. Far too often, Char's images are all that are left of some of them.
This is an invitation for you to join her on a very personal journey. In her constant search to find and photograph some of the most socially and historically relevant architectural testaments, this particular place evoked emotions in her like no other so she decided to share her obsession.

Photographer And Author Char Szabo Perricelli Again Published In Historical Magazine

A look into one of the area’s most relevant historical and architectural treasures standing on the brink of extinction.

10.20.2016 – A few of Char’s thought-provoking images of the remnants of a place she has been obsessed with after first laying eyes on it in 2001 are showcased here. Her accompanying writing captures the grand beginning and expansive history. This phenomenal place of light and healing is quickly being reclaimed by nature and suffering severe demolition by neglect. The piece is titled “A Woman in Shadow” and is highlighted in the newly released Fall 2016 issue of Western New York Heritage magazine.

Doers, who are also makers will be included in this collection which is about appreciating every one whose lives cross with our own every day. We may not even be consciously aware of the role they play or how much they enrich our lives. Until now....
This one is extremely special as she had the chance to visit a highly prolific and nationally renowned sculptor/painter/inventor who was in the mid stages of Alzheimer's. A month later to the day, he sadly passed from complications of the disease.

1.24.16 - "Buffalo State Hospital - A History of the Institution in Light and Shadow" is a thought-provoking & sensitive look inside one of the areas old psychiatric hospitals as part of the Abandoned History series by the Museum of disABILITY History.

"Ruins & Shadows", Chapter 4 in the book is Szabo-Perricelli's take on what drives her obsession to do preservation photography. She shares her insights in her usual expressive narrative style, bringing the reader into these abandoned places with her and allows us to be where most of us would never even think to go.

This series will celebrate making in its extensive & various forms & functions.
Starting out as a personal growth experience, Char decided to share them and show us how what we all make and do is important and enriches our lives in some way.
